Goodbye 2023

Here we are 3 days into 2024 and I’m still wondering where 2023 went. It’s wild to think the year flew by so quickly. One highlight of 2023 was starting this company. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride, but I’ve really been enjoying it.

Our last tip of 2023 was a road trip to visit my sister and her husband in TX before they moved to NY. Along the way we stopped for a night in Memphis to visit Graceland. Although I have been once before back in 1997, it was fun to go again. My husband had also never been before so I got to share that experiance with him. We stayed at The Guest House at Graceland, although I would love to say good things about the hotel, unfortunately it was very disappointing. The lobby was beautiful and the customer service was great, the room was dirty and not at all what I would have expected. Regardless, we had a wonderful time in Memphis.

We had two very delicious meals in Memphis. The first was dinner at Marlowe’s Ribs & Restaurant, which was recommended by a local at our hotel. The food, drinks and customer service were all on point. The Elvis cocktails were also very yummy. The next morning we went to breakfast at Eggxactly Breakfast and Deli. This was the cutest little place tucked away in a nearby neighborhood. The food was beyond our expectations. I had the chicken and waffles, I do not care much for dark meat and they serve thighs rather than breasts, I still ate every bit, it was that good! If I’m ever in Memphis again for any reason, I will most definitely be eating breakfast there.

After breakfast we toured Graceland then got back on the road and headed to TX. If you’ve never thought about visiting Graceland, I recommend visiting at least once. It’s a bit underwhelming but such a cool piece of history. We made one stop along the way to grab some lunch in Little Rock, Arkansas. I found this little cajun restaurant called Maddie’s Place and it was by far one of the best meals I had on this trip. The customer service was also above and beyond our expectations.

Then we spent two days in Grapevine, TX - The Christmas capital of TX! It was awesome! Got in lots of family time with my sister and her husband, just eating and drinking and laughing for two days straight. On the drive home we only made stops to get gas, use the restroom and quickly eat. We were so tired by then that we had tunnel vision, just wanted to be back home snuggling with the dogs.

It was a fantastic ending to 2023!
